№ 03The brief

The brief

The Bridge at Leigh is a community food bank supporting families and individuals in the Leigh area. Like most charities, they were running on whatever was cheap and just-about-worked: a WordPress site and company email both sitting on a SiteGround shared-hosting plan, and no proper system for handling the visitors who came in to the community shop.

Workspace migration. We moved the charity off the SiteGround shared hosting and onto Google Workspace — proper mailboxes, shared drive, calendar across the team. No more fragile shared-server email. It’s the same migration we’d build for a fee-paying business; it just runs on a charity rate.

New website. With the email sorted, we rebuilt the site off the shared WordPress and gave The Bridge a proper online presence — warm, accessible, with clear routes for donors, volunteers, and people who need help. Local search picks them up now for “food bank Leigh” and related terms, so the people who need to find them actually do.

Custom iPad membership + till system. The part we’re proudest of. The food bank runs a small shop where members come in to register and pick up items. Until now, that was paper-based. We built a custom iPad application the volunteers use at the counter — members register once, get looked up on return visits, and items get rung through properly. It’s not what you’d expect a community food bank to have. It’s what a community food bank deserves to have.

Delivered at a 20% charity rate, running quietly in the background. The Bridge has the kit of a proper business — on a charity’s budget.

Client note

"Chris kitted us out like a proper business. New site, proper email, and an iPad system for the shop so we can actually register members and ring things through. We wouldn't normally have a setup like this — the charity discount made it possible."
