# Move your website without losing your Google rankings

A new website can wipe out years of search visibility in a weekend if the old pages are not mapped properly. We plan the move page by page, redirect everything that matters and watch Search Console until the new site has settled.

## What is included
- **Pre-move audit** — We crawl the old site and pull Search Console data to find every page that brings visitors, links or enquiries.
- **Redirect map** — Every old address mapped to its best new home, with permanent (301) redirects set up and tested before launch.
- **Content protection** — Pages that rank keep their key content, titles and headings, so the new site does not throw away what was working.
- **Tracking carried over** — Analytics, conversion tracking and call tracking moved across so you can compare before and after.
- **Launch day checks** — Sitemaps submitted, redirects tested, robots rules checked and Search Console watched on the day.
- **Post-launch monitoring** — We watch rankings, crawl errors and enquiries for the weeks after launch and fix issues as they appear.
- **Recovery work** — Already lost traffic after a rebuild? We find what went missing and put it back.
- **Platform moves** — WordPress, Wix, Squarespace, OpenCart and old custom sites moved to a fast open-source build or to Shopify for trade shops.

## Indicative pricing
All Happy Webs prices exclude VAT.
When we build your new website, the migration work is included in the website quote, which starts from £5,950 excluding VAT. If another agency is building the site, or you need traffic recovered after a rebuild, we quote the migration on its own after a free review.

## Frequently asked questions
### Will we lose Google rankings when we move to a new website?

A small wobble for a few weeks is normal. Big drops usually come from missing redirects or lost content. With a proper redirect map and launch checks, most sites hold their rankings and often improve because the new site is faster and clearer.
### What is a 301 redirect?

A permanent redirect from an old web address to a new one. It sends visitors and search engines to the right page and passes on most of the old page's search value.
### Can you migrate a site that another agency is building?

Yes. We can do the audit, redirect map and launch checks alongside another agency, as long as we can get access to the old site data and the new site before launch.
### We already rebuilt and lost traffic. Can you fix it?

Often, yes. We compare the old pages with the new ones, find the missing redirects and content, and put them back. The sooner it is done, the faster rankings recover.
### Which platforms do you move websites from?

WordPress, Wix, Squarespace, OpenCart, older custom sites and more. We usually move business sites to a fast open-source build on Cloudflare, and trade shops to Shopify where that suits how customers buy.
